Flowers are bisexual and may appear alone or in clusters like cymes or umbels, located at the stem tips or leaf axils. Sometimes the flowers are enclosed in a protective bract called a spathe. Flowers can be radially or bilaterally symmetrical. The fruit is a capsule.
